SHARE New York - Self Help And Resource Exchange

Share New York is a private not-for-profit organization joining thousands of families together each month to volunteer in their communities and save over 60% on food bills. The program offers approximately $30 worth of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and staples in exchange for $14 or $15 on cash or food stamps, and two hours of volunteer service.

SHARE builds communities, celebrates diversity, and promotes human dignity through community service. SHARE is a catalyst for individual growth and systematic change. SHARE collaborates and forms partnerships with other organization, agencies and groups whose values are compatible with ours. We recognize that the outcome of our combined efforts will exceed our individual contributions.

  • Registration for the food package takes place at the beginning of the month. Food is distributed on Saturday near the end of the month. Specific dates and times will be given when you register for the program.
  • Unlike other programs, SHARE is open to anyone. "If you eat, you qualify." SHARE serves over 13,000 families per month
  • Participants are required to contribute 2 hours of volunteer service per food package. This can include helping at the SHARE warehouse during bagging week, Helping at the monthly distribution, or doing a variety of things in your community.
